iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro Use Intel’s LTE Modem

It looks like despite reaching a settlement with Qualcomm, Apple has continued to use Intel modem inside the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro this year. That’s surprising since the iPhone 11 features a faster Gigabit LTE modem than last year’s iPhone XS and many expected it was supplied by Qualcomm.

However, as per PCMag, Apple is likely using Intel’s XM 7660 modem — the company’s final 4G modem before it shut down and sold its modem business to Apple for $1 billion. Also Read:Welltorrent Proxy List

Based on the spec sheet of the modem, the iPhone 11 Pro should offer around 20% faster LTE speeds than the iPhone XS from last year. The iPhone 11 also comes with the same modem but its performance and network reception won’t be as good because it has 2×2 MIMO antennas and not 4×4 MIMO like the iPhone 11 Pro.

Data collected by SpeedSmart signals a 13% improvement in LTE speeds on the iPhone 11 Pro in the United States across all major carriers.

It is unclear if Apple is using Intel’s modem in all the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro variants or if it is limited to the U.S. variant tested by PCMag.

Apple and Qualcomm reached a settlement in April this year. By the time these two companies settled their matter, the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro components were probably already finalized and it was not possible for Apple to make a major modem swap at the last minute.

Apple will use Qualcomm’s modem for its 2020 iPhones which are expected to feature 5G connectivity. The companies have signed a six-year license agreement and a two-year chipset supply agreement.

Apple HomePod Accounts for Just 5 Percent of Smart Speaker Sales in the U.S

Apple’s HomePod seems to be lagging behind when it comes to market share in the U.S. Consumer Intelligence Research Partners has published a new report that says HomePod accounted for only 5 percent out of 76 million smart speakers sold in the United States in Q2 2019.

As expected Amazon continues to tops the leaderboard with Echo devices accounting for 70 percent of smart speakers sold in the United States in Q2 2019. Meanwhile, Google Home devices accounted for 25 percent of the sales during the same time period. The smart speaker segment has witnessed a remarkable growth of nine percent.

Needless to say, HomePod is not selling anywhere as much as Google Home or Amazon Echo. As per the report, people like buying affordable smart speakers like Amazon Echo Dot and Google Home Mini as opposed to the expensive HomePod. Perhaps it is time for Apple to offer a more affordable alternative to HomePod. Despite the revised price, Apple HomePod is still selling at $299 which is considerably more as opposed to Echo or Google Home Mini. The report is concluded after surveying 500 U.S users who own Amazon Echo, Google Home, and Apple HomePod.
Our Take

Apple’s HomePod is positioned as a premium smart speaker. The market trends show that people prefer entry-level smart speakers like the Echo Dot. Even the expensive Google Home Max suffered a similar fate as HomePod. That apart, the HomePod was restricted to select regions in the beginning and needs an Apple device to pair. Moreover it didn’t support Bluetooth and initially, it was linked to only one Apple ID.

2019 iPhone Photography Award Winners Announced

The winners of the 12th annual iPhone Photography Awards were unveiled today.

This year's recipients were selected from thousands of entries from over 140 countries around the world, including Australia, Bahrain, Belarus, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Peru, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

"Big Sister" shot on an iPhone X by Gabriella Cigliano of Italy

The grand prize winner is Gabriella Cigliano of Italy for her entry "Big Sister," shot on an iPhone X in Zanzibar, Africa:
Last year I spent a month in Wasa, Tanzania, teaching a class of young, curious and amazing guys. Before heading back to Italy we stopped in Zanzibar, where this photo was taken. I still wonder how could I capture that exact moment in all its beauty. I was just observing, a few meters from them, but they were probably more curious about me than I was about them, and that's probably why the girl was looking at me. We couldn't talk much, except for a few words in Swahili I had learned in the previous weeks, but those kids could definitely talk with their eyes. It was one of the most beautiful things I've seen in my life, and I'll keep it in my memories forever. The best part was showing them and their mums the photos, for some it was the first time they were seeing their faces, and their excitement was unexplainable, unfortunately my iPhone was in their hands and I couldn't capture that!

Powerbeats Pro Truly Wireless Headphones Getting Advertised Before an Actual Announcement

There have been rumors that the Apple-owned Beats brand is working on a pair of truly wireless Powerbeats Pro headphones, and now there’s even a giant billboard in Los Angeles advertising the unannounced headphones.

Back in March, there was a report that outlined Beats working on a pair of truly wireless headphones under the Powerbeats branding. They would be called the Powerbeats Pro, and it did not take long before we saw our first official image of the incoming headphones thanks to the release of iOS 12.2. But, while the Powerbeats Pro seem to be all but confirmed at this point, Apple hasn’t actually announced or launched them just yet.

But that isn’t stopping the company from advertising them anyway. As was first reported on Wednesday by 9to5Mac, Apple has put up a giant banner in Los Angeles, California, on the cross streets of Vine and Sunset. It’s ridiculously tall and shows off the Powerbeats Pro name. Whether or not the image itself actually gets across that the headphones are truly wireless is up for debate, but at least there’s additional text that reads “totally wireless” at the bottom.

There are actually two ads, though, with a landscape billboard advertising the same Powerbeats Pro headphones just off to the left as well, which you can see in the image above. Apparently the ads say the new headphones are “coming soon”, but there aren’t any official dates present. The last rumor suggested the Powerbeats Pro headphones would launch sometime in April, so we may not have long to wait.
Our Take

Despite the fact that Apple just launched the second-generation AirPods, the truly wireless Powerbeats Pro shouldn’t cannibalize those sales due to the fact the Beats-branded product is designed for working out and training sessions. Plus, Apple has been moving towards a wireless future for quite some time now, so more options is always better.
We Want To Hear From You

Depending on price, do you think you’ll pick up the Powerbeats Pro truly wireless headphones?

Tip 6. Use iPhone or iPad as a Remote for Your Apple TV
1. Common Fixes for the Issue of “Apple tv not responding to remote.”

Here is a list of common solutions that most Apple TV users tried to be useful to fix this remote issue.

Check to ensure if your Apple TV and your iOS device are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Restart your iOS device.

Close the app, relaunch the app and try again. If your iOS device has a Home Button, press it twice and if it does not, swipe up on the screen and pause. Go to the Apple TV remote App and swipe down. Relaunch the app.

Restart your Apple TV by navigating to Settings and then System; click on restart (if you have a responsive remote). But since the Apple TV remote app is not working, restart your Apple TV by unplugging it from the power outlet and plugging it back in after a few seconds.

You should also ensure that your iOS device has the latest version of iOS.

Turn your Apple TV on using its remote. Navigate to Settings; then click on General and then Remote. Unpair the remote and pair it again.

The problem may be with your connection. Turn off your Wi-Fi router and turn it back on.

Turn on airplane mode on your iOS device and turn it back off after a few seconds.

These steps should fix your Apple TV remote app not responding to Apple TV. If this method does not work, try out the methods below.
2. Empty battery (Discharged)

This is in fact, the first thing to check when you notice your Apple TV is not responding to the remote. The battery may have run out of power. So, what you should do is to charge the remote with a Lighting USB cable. Ensure that you charge it with a wall charger and not through a computer.

3. Obstacles blocking remote

Sometimes your Apple TV may not be responding to the remote because there is an obstacle in between the remote and the Apple TV. This obstacle may be blocking the Infrared-Ray Sensor’s line of sight. Check and clear all obstacles that may be in the way so that your Apple TV can respond to the remote.
4. Unpair and pair it again

This is one trick that can help you fix the problem of Apple TV not responding to the remote. Press the “Menu” button and “Left” button simultaneously, and hold. When a cloud-like icon displays on the screen, it means that your remote is not paired.

To pair the remote, press the “Menu” and “Right” button at the same time and hold for some time. The remote will automatically pair with the TV.
